Why We Should Be Teaching Our Children To Be Successful through Business

Generational wealth is a big deal. Maybe we don’t hear about it as often in the financial community as other wealth-building stories and strategies, but when you’ve got kids in the mix, it’s not just about generating income for ourselves – we’re working to shape their futures. Teaching our kids about money and wealth-building today is an invaluable tool for tomorrow, and we hope this episode tells you exactly why!

Today on the His & Her Money Show, we’re talking with Pongee Barnes: wife, mom, and real estate investment rockstar. Pongee and her husband have an impressive real estate portfolio, and even more than that, an impressive outlook on life with their two young boys.

They’re outspoken advocates about the importance of teaching and setting up our children (especially our black children) for the future, not just financially, but with knowledge. Giving our children the tools to succeed sounds like a no-brainer but we might be surprised how many kids grow up without the know-how or even the can-do to be successful once they’re out in the world.

Bringing us back to where it all started, Pongee watched a lot of HGTV – just like we all do. But the difference is, she decided to make it a whole business endeavor. On TV, it looked as easy as fixing up some cosmetic issues and turning a profit, so why not? Well, turns out there’s a lot more to it – as she and her husband quickly found out.

But from their first disaster flip to now, this power couple has come so far, learned so much, and built not just a business but a legacy for their family. And they’re also using their knowledge and experience to educate their kids about entrepreneurship and wealth-building, and the importance of putting in the hard work. So, today, Pongee and her family are thriving, living the landlord’s life, and setting the groundwork for bright futures ahead!
