Don’t lose hope when you’re in a less than ideal financial season of your life. Diligently seek to look for the positive opportunities that might be right in front of you. Take it as a challenge to motivate you to aim high and reach higher. Don’t be afraid to take the first step; who knows, it might take you to a better path.
On today’s episode of the His and Her Money Show, we have a stellar guest, Grant Sabatier, the creator of MillenialMoney.com and author of Financial Freedom: A Proven Path to All the Money You Will Ever Need. Grant shares his incredible and inspiring finance story, telling exactly what he did to become financially independent at age of 30 and grow the $2.26 in his account to a million dollars in just 5 years!
Back then, it was rock bottom for Grant. He had no job and lived on his own, so he applied for jobs online and landed on a Digital Marketing company. He didn’t know anything about digital marketing at that time, but he took the opportunity and was determined and willing to learn.
In effect, Grant shifted his career path and started from scratch. He was not afraid to do things totally different from what he had studied. He learned Google Ad Words, where he got most of his earnings. For him, it was the quickest path to earning money in digital marketing.
View saving as an opportunity, not a sacrifice.
Now, Grant keeps telling others to look at two things. First, look at the skills you have and those you’re currently using in your job. Second, look at the skills you use outside of your job. You can monetize your skills and your hobbies. Likewise, you can diversify and learn the opposite skill set. Learn skills that will help you earn more money because people pay for skills. Just don’t fear testing out an idea, and maybe you’ll find it cool.
There are so many opportunities nowadays: you just have to open your eyes to the possibility. Do some research and jump in. The people who grow their lives are the ones that can go around a fire and push themselves in a way they didn’t expect.
According to the book that changed his life, “There’s a limit on how much money you can save; there’s a limit on how much you can cut back, but there’s no limit on how much money you could make.” Being completely financially free is not all sunshine and rainbows, but it pays off as it gives you more options and control of your time.
Grant has already hit his goals and it’s enough for him. He left the corporate world and a lot of money on the table. He turned from a guy that was all about money to a guy on a mission. As a result, he travels around the world talking about happiness and financial freedom. Moreover, Grant encourages people to do their own thing and define success for themselves!
