How to Raise Your Kids To Love God

The fact is, one of the hardest responsibilities as a parent is teaching our children to follow God and instill spiritual values in them. There are so many factors contributing to our young men and women’s faith, and on top of them, there are new technologies.

Yes, gadgets play a major role. They really influence the mind and behavior of today’s youth, and the number one challenge for parents is how to handle all these foes.

On today’s episode of The His & Her Money Show, we’re so thankful to have onboard Shelly Wildman, an author who wrote the fantastic book, “First Ask Why: Raising Kids to Love God Through Intentional Discipleship”.

She is also a wife, a mother to her three adult daughters, and a professor who retired to pursue her writing and speaking career. Get ready to be inspired as Shelly shares her knowledge; it’s going to be helpful to us!

Shelly is very passionate about helping and encouraging parents in teaching their children to love and follow God. She educates parents in this area to prepare the new and next-generation for a better world.

Despite our busyness, she says we should be focused on what God has given us and be intentional because discipleship is the number one role of parents.

Being a parent is a sacred responsibility.

She emphasizes that as parents, we have a mission field, and the greatest mission field right now is our kids. Following God, having kids and our own spiritual growth are our most important jobs–teaching our kids what it means to follow God and have faith, and turn them into Christian people.

“The job of conversion is the Holy Spirit’s job, but it is ours to put in front of our kids every day what it means to follow God.” Help them to understand that living life would honor God is really important. Moreover, Shelly encourages us to create a family vision that will make it strong. It means a unity that will serve as a guide towards your goal in life.
