The process of starting a business is different for everybody, but at the foundation of any business is a solid plan, a passion, and that first initial push to get started. That push can come at any time, anywhere, sometimes from unexpected places, but once the entrepreneurial strike hits, it’s time to start putting in the work!
Ivey Nicole Smith knows all about it. Three years ago, she was feeling restless in her corporate job, waiting for the next big idea to switch things up in her professional life, and making spa and skincare products as a hobbyist. From there, she started selling her creations to friends, and pretty soon she decided she’d better go ahead and make it a business! So, her skincare line, My Skin Is In, was born. Today, she’s talking us through the industry learning curve, perfecting her craft, and how she’s set her game plan in motion for success!
We love shifting the focus to black-owned, women-owned businesses, and Ivey has a story that will inspire everybody out there who’s looking for the right time to make their dream a reality. She’s built a company to lift up and empower her customers through handcrafted products made of natural, organic ingredients, so she’s not just making money doing what she loves — she’s spreading positivity through her community, one body scrub at a time!
